Henry Sears Co. Prussia

I have an interesting little pen knife with beautiful Mother of Pearl scales and fancy bolsters all 2 1/2 " of it. It says Henry Sears Co. Prussia on the tang stamp. Can anyone tell me about it? As you can see at some point in it's long life it lost about half of its secondary blade.

Re: Lenox vintage pen knife

Hi DelNich, Rub the knife firmly between your hands until it is quite warm. If you smell Camphor (like vicks vapo rub) the knife is celluloid. Or you can heat a pin or sewing needle and stick it in an unobtrusive area to see it if smokes/melts. My first thought was that it is celluloid (very nice c...

Re: Lenox vintage pen knife

I may be mistaken, but it looks like the handles might be celluloid based on the red-brown discoloration around the pins and what appears to be crazing in the handles. This would be a sign of deterioration/out-gassing of the celluloid. Are the handles real MOP or plastic? If anyone could give me an...

Re: Robeson two blade jack

That's a very nice Robeson 056 jack. I'm not sure I've ever seen that bone, which is certainly a Robeson product, on a knife with that post WWII stamp. The bone is circa WWII, because we see it on contract knives made for the U.S. Government Robeson started using their Strawberry Bone in 1948, so I...
