Blood groove is on both sides and into the tang. Small circle logo below groove and small 6393 below back groove.
Your knife is legit though. I have one that is a wreck but still shows pattern number and looks like yours. No groove. I am guessing the grooved ones are by far the most common.

Re: can't find this Remington
Your knife is a fine example showing very little wear or use. A visible Remington logo etched on the blade is just about priority number 1 with Remington collectors!!

Re: weak springs
As mentioned it is usually not a weak spring. In the case of Remingtons it is usually worn down tangs on the blades combined with some wear on springs where the two rub together. . For some reason Remingtons seem to have softer tangs that many other brands. I think it is from when they anneal that a...

John I am sitting here laughing and enjoying the pictures of your Remingtons! I usually look at the latest additions to your thread but mistakenly looked at page 1. You were trying to figure out how to post a picture! You were trying to figure out where all the missing photos were. Then you mentione...

How common are 5 blade sowbelly knives
I see more fakes and counterfits than real knives. I have seen a couple of authentic examples here.

4783's can have several configurations as I recall. Can opener, bottle opener, and bail can be on either end.

That surveyor knife is one of the finest examples of a Remington I have seen. Saw one in person a couple years ago just like yours.

Re: Remington knives with an etch
Some fine examples guys! Keep them coming. I once had a one blade like the Lostvalley knife. I have had the Lostvalley knife in hand and it is a dandy. They have the black composite filler piece in place of the other blades like some bullets and the HTT bulldog.

Re: It looks like a gasser!
Very common for the lighter colors that are somewhat clear like yours to "blow up" or off gas. I have seen many. The rear scale looks like it is off gassing but the front scale looks mostly ok. Another clue is the discoloration on your nickel silver bolsters. The liners can get eaten away ...

Re: Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?
This R3445 bothers me the most. I look at it often and am 95% certain its horn which should make it a 0 Lets make that 99% certain it is horn. I have seen another identical knife to that one at the OKCA show in Eugene and one other online. Maybe it was this knife. I was in search of a nice example ...

The waterfall scales are actually mother of pearl rather than the celluloid waterfall or cracked ice material.clockman wrote:The imprint on my knife has no quotation marks and is red, Also mine has the waterfall scales like your second pic shows and no model number.
