TANG STAMP -Rear: MADE IN / SHEFFIELD / ENGLAND

SHEATH:   Leather – worn and not functional for belt carry because of torn center strap.

CONDITION:   Excellent

DAMAGE:   Blade may be 1/8’ short. Sheath as noted above.

MADE IN:   Sheffield, England

ADDITIONAL INFO:     William Rodgers of Sheffield  begin in business about 1830 according to Goin's Encyclopedia of Cutlery Markings. It was incorporated into John Clarke & Sons Limited in 1875.  According to Goins the company was still in business as of the printing of his book which was about 1998.

The company used the motto "I cut my way," as part of their tang stamps. Though not completely legible on this knife, it can be seen beneath the William Rodgers name in the front tang.

Note: I believe this knife has been worked on, but I do not know to what extent as this is the only William Rodgers I have seen.
