It is listed as part of what they referred to as the ‘ “39” Series.’ The L40 is a smaller model of the L39. That is the only listing I found for the L40 although I did find the
the Black Beauty version; F40.
I am a huge fan of Western knives for the simple fact that their carbon steel is some of the best ever made in my opinion. The edge holding ability of their knives is legendary and the ease of sharpening is amazing. This knife is nice enough to be in a collection but in my opinion Western knives show their excellence in the work they do more so than the way they look. The leather handle knives are probably the most plain, but most popular of the knife Western made. Definitely a knife that can be passed on to the next generation if it is given basic care.
