ADDITIONAL INFO:     This is a standard seaman’s knife. I say standard because Camillus made these for a lot of companies. I know at one time they made them for Case as well as for Buck Knives. I suspect there were several other SFO’s for different companies in this pattern with the locking marlin spike. This knife is well-made and solid. It may have a little shop wear or may have been lightly carried.

For those of you who may not know, the marlin spike is used to splice heavy rope and also steel cable. It is used to un-braid the fibers of the rope or the wires of the cable to prepare for splicing. It is used again to re-weave the fibers back together to make it a strong splice.
