CONDITION:   Fair

DAMAGE: Lots of blade wear, normal use and wear marks. Obviously a favorite of someone.

SNAP:  Good snap on opening and weak snap closing

ADDITIONAL INFO:     Goins says Zenith is a trademark of Marshall Wells Hardware it was used from 1893 until 1959 when the company was sold and they moved to New York State and sold the cutlery business about 1963.  Goins appears to show a picture of this knife on page 177 of “Goins Encyclopedia of Knives And Their Markings.” He also shows a picture of the tang stamp that is on this knife and dates it to 1894. He says they started in Duluth Minnesota became a very large hardware wholesaler, with offices in Portland Oregon, Spokane, Seattle & Aberdeen Washington, Great Falls Montana, Minneapolis and Duluth Minnesota. The house and scratch that they also had Canadian offices in Edmonton Vancouver and Winnipeg. Goins also says they sold a very wide range of pocketknives brands, including Hartford Cutlery, Zenith, Hammer Brand, Wallkill River works, and Deluxe and Marbles.
