CONDITION: Very Good
DAMAGE: Normal use wear & staining of blades. Top line of tang stamp is partially legible; the three bottom lines are visible.
BLADE WEAR: Approx 15% - 20%
SNAP: Good snap and half stops, both blades.
MADE IN: U.S.A.
ADDITIONAL INFO: The Navy General Utility Knife was made by a variety of companies during World War II including; Utica, Pal, Imperial, Camillus and probably Kingston (– see Pocket Knives of the United States Military by Michael Silvey; pages 65 & 66. Also see The Complete Book of U.S. Military Pocket Knives also written by Michael Silvey: pages 101-104).
It amazes me that these knives with this beautiful Rogers bone were a general issue item. Today I think they are among some of the most beautiful knife handles ever made!
The master blade on this Camillus is down about 15% - 20% and probably the same for the pen blade. There are some dings, scratches and wear marks on this knife but that’s to be expected for a 75 year-old working knife! This is a great piece of cutlery history and an outstanding EDC if you so desire!
