Nice big ol' jack John ::tu:: ... I've seen differences in mark vs pile side bone but yours is pretty dramatic - but I think it is pretty cool! :D ...

Thanks Lee, I had gone thru this entire thread when I received this knife looking for other examples of this pattern number and I noticed several other knives posted that had lighter pile side bone, wonder if that is something Cattaraugus did intentionally or just how the bone aged if the knife sat on one side for decades.

Beautiful old knife you have, John. I think the lighter coloring is because of exposure.

Here's a nice little pen knife. 3 inches closed.

Some really nice Catts guys. Mark, that's a great example of the worm groove bone Cattaraugus used on so many of their knives! ::tu::

I've often wodered why AAPK doesn't have a sub-forum dedicated to Cattaraugus. ::shrug:: IMHO that's a gross oversight. How about it - anyone else agree?

I have always wondered about that also seeing as Cattaraugus is such a collected brand.

I submitted a request to the "Forum Administrators" for a Cattaraugus Cutlery brand-specific forum. Not sure how this is done - I'm thinking it's something Bryan will have to execute. Will let y'all know how it proceeds. ::groove::

I picked this Catt up on the auction site and I'm looking for some help on it. It has a pattern stamp I've not seen before, it has a letter "B" at the start instead of the typical 5 numbers. I don't have my Cattaraugus book with me here at work and it's driving me crazy wondering if this is an original knife! ::shrug:: It sure looks original but as I said I've never seen this pattern stamp before........any help??

Thanks,
Dave

Dave, Price and Zalesky say B2109 is a barehead trapper jack. Ritchie and Stewart's fifth edition says B2109 is a copperhead jack? No photo in the Ritchie and Stewart Cattaraugus catalog reprint.

Too late now but just for future reference - when in such a situation do not despair. In many cases the help you need is right here on AAPK, up there ^^ in the "Research" section. For example, here's the link to the Catt numbering page. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/co ... ng-system/

Of course I looked there 1st before posting here for help! Plus some other places on the internet. I've been around here long enough to know where the research information is! But Thank You for your input Ken! ::tu:: I can use all the help I can get...some days!
