Rostfrei Solingen Springer
Rostfrei: Translates to "Rust Free" Which is your Stainless Steel

Solingen: Town in Germany where many knives are made, Many like Solingen Steel. If I recall Solingen means something like City of Swords... seems like I read that somewhere.

Springer: Must be the company name, which I cannot find any reference to that comapny, so I am stumped on that one.

Ksmith...

Any pictures?

A springer is a type of automatic. A couple of the German firms who made these were Boker and Bonsa...probably others as well.

One of my books list Springer as a knife manufacture in Germany.

Weltersbach of Solingen, Germany, does/did use that as a marking, I believe...as Goins' book mentioned.

So did the others mentioned above, to indicate a type of auto.

There are even Harley-Davidson "Springers" out and about now.

A bit confusing (and I may have mistaken the question) and a good reason why we need a picture. :)

EDITED:
I've been looking for a web presence For Weltersbach...or German "Springers", but so far no joy. I did find this...
