New USA based Schrades? GEC connection?

I remember seeing a while back that Taylor was looking to re-introduce the Schrade Cut Co stamp, and possibly ramp up some USA based production. I also remember seeing a post by LT a while back that had a picture of a prototype automatic with the cutco stamp, and it looks ALOT like a GEC frame. Then I run across this:

Is this another one off prototype, or the start of something new? I'm really liking what I'm seeing from GEC lately, and if they are behind the new knives, I definitely won't be upset about it. Anyone shed some light on things here?

Adam, this is only my opinion, but I don't think GEC had anything to do with that knife.

I wasn't real sure. There's not a whole lot of places in the US that do stuff like that. Bear, Queen, GEC and CSC, unless I'm missing any, or this is something new. The frame kinda looked like a scout frame and bolsters, but the nail nick and shield I've not seen on anything they've done. Either way, it's nice to see Schrade with a USA under it again, I guess all I can hope for next is some good carbon steel

Adam,
You have a good eye. Those are special order GEC knives made for Taylor alright. They made the Pioneer model nearly a year ago and the Scout more recently.
SMKW has the Pioneer model in their catalog periodically...
SCTUSA1
SCTUSA2
Taylor Catalog shows both models in 5 variations. 400 each made, so I wouldn't call them rare. They are a little past half way down this page.
Taylor Catalog
The amusing part is that they are actually a little nice knife than the regular line last year due to matchstriker pulls and bolster threading.

Definitely GECs work. I called and double checked! I like the "threaded" bolsters!

Does anyone know where these Schrade's can be purchaced other than SMKW? I would love to have one of the scout sized models.
