All About Pocket Knives

Hey all, a friend of mine ask me to ask yall about this knife. I couldn't find it in my references. On the tang it reads Linder-Messer Solingen Germany. On the blade itself it reads Original Buffalo Skinner. He was looking for age and if it was very common. I have heard of Linder (in fact, own a nice auto from them) but never heard of Linder-Messer. Any info would be a help. Thanks, Smoke

Looks like you never got an answer to this. Linder is a German manufacturer, messer is the German word for knife. It is an American style German made knife probably from the sixties. Pretty common and not worth a whole lot.

That makes a lot of sense.
I don't think they even have BUFFALO in Germany!

gunsmoke , I too have had a couple of their autos. Just wanted to let you know that they do no make any of them. They contract them out. Some from Italy ,Germany and a lot from Taiwan.

Pretty common and not worth a whole lot.

I have to agree....but they make some nice knives.

Nice , I did a leverletto in recon turqiose ,but ended up rescaling it in mammoth ivory.
The recon looks great,but chips too easy for a user.

Great work Cowboy! I forgot that you are one of the many talented members on this forum! Don't worry about getting off topic, it's my thread. I don't know who made my Linder but it seems to be a quality knife and after Kalebs customizing, it just adds to the quality. I like it a lot. Smoke

They are well made knives. At one point they were Italian made , skm, or gom , not sure about the newer ones.
I've got an old springer that I picked up as a parts knife that I'm rebuilding. Just haven't been been able to motivate myself lately to finish it. also have an old shell puller that I put back together.
Want to make a couple scratch built as well , smaller than what is available . maybe 5 inch o.a.l.
but too many things on the honey do list that I need to get to first.

Also PUMA just released a couple lever locks. They outsourced them , looks like Hubertus made to me ,but not positive.
