All About Pocket Knives

I just acquired this multi-tool. Made of solid steel by Ed Wustof of Solingen it is a little less than 6 inches in length. It has a hammer head, axe head, screw driver, crow bar (the attachment on the bottom right has a v-shaped claw end so could be used for removing tacks/small nails), gripper in the middle and 2 wire strippers/cutters. Has anyone seen a tool like this before and, if so, was it made for specific purpose? Thanks s-k

very similar to a fence tool. used for stringing wire or barbed wire fencing.

Thanks for the reply Johnnie Yes it is very similar but on a much smaller scale. For example, the edge on the axe end is aprox 1 inch long. The overall weight less than 8 ounces. Perhpas for models or some other relatively light duty use? s-k

i bought an upholsters toolbox at an auction once...it had a similar tool in it...not as nice looking...???
it does look like a fence tool...

is the 'ax' sharp...the one i had was not...

Thanks for the response gringo. No the axe edge isn't very sharp. More of a wedge in its current state than a cutting tool. s-k

An 1880's dental tool!!

Steve, I've seen quite a few similar tools around in the antique shops and never paid any attention to them.

Defiinitely too small for fencing tool. I'll pay better attention if I come across one again, and check for the maker and any patent information.

I was thinking like Gunsmoke, they may not reply Jonet. Could be something that was special ordered for the concentration camps.

Is that what your customs peopel did to that SOG (PowerLock B60,Black EOD Multy Tool/Sheath) I sent you last year ?

Ken, it is not nearly as cool as the multi-tool that you sent. Perhaps one day we will know what happened to it .

Fran, shame it doesn't have a patent number on it. I'm not sure how old it is. It is very good condition and looks like only minor use.

The factory was a lot of help, eh Johnnie ?

My reply would have been two words, which are usually followed by....SHERLOCK !

if this tool had no screwdriver I thought to a champagne tongs and ice hammer but the screw is not in this philosophy

Nice find there Jonet. The fifth row is better, I guess that is how women used to dress back then. Put a cowboy hat on it and it could be someone from Texas, more likely San Fransisco though!
