Does anyone have or know where to find some detailed information about, older model German Eye and Kissing Crane knives? These knives are all at least 25 years old, some have numbers some have such as 2348XIII, and 1235XVII. I got my grandfathers knife collection and I am trying to get information. I would appreciate any information or the avenue for this information. Thanks, wfh71

For the older German Eye Brand.........You should search Carl Schlieper German Eye Brand.

The following is a discription of the tang stamps but you should find actual pictures:

CARL SCHLIEPER
SOLINGEN-GERMANY
1950-1965

C. SCHLIEPER
SOLINGEN
GERMANY
1960-Present
(C.Schlieper is curved over and eye.)

GERMANY
1970-Present
(Germany is under an eye)

A Jim Bowie Germany is 1972-1975

An El Gallo Germany is 1954-1972

The only authoratative article I have ever seen on Eye Brands was in the August 1983, Knife World. It was re-printed in the 1993 Best of Knife World. The author was Joe Dobbs.
