Do any of you fixed blade fans know if KA-BAR (union cutlery, Olean NY) ever made there pommels out of stag or bone? I got a look at one today that was old (20-52 tang stamp) and had stag handles with black and red spacers with a spanner nut holding it all togeather. A nice little fixed blade about 6 1/2 inchs long. I can't post a pic but would like to know if this is original. Thanks in advance, mikek

mikek:
You have just not given enough info to go by. Without photos, anything given as a response is going to be a WAG. Were I to make one, with info you have given especially that in () I would say the time frame would be correct for a Marbles knockoff. A Lot of the cutcos copied the early Marbles. That being said I have never seen an early Stag Pommeled KA-BAR from Olean by Union Cutlery. Sorry for not being able to offer more. What pattern is it? Woodcraft, Ideal, Fieldcraft or maybe a fishing knife (with the size you have mentioned 6 1/2" it could be.)

Moss, Thanks for the imput, the knife in question may be a little longer than a Case 3 finn but the blade is broader in width. Ifs it a custom job than its a good one. Because I have dial up pics are a real pain for me but by next week I'll try to get some posted. The knife belongs to a co-workers mother and was used for fishing and trapping. I really would like to get some knowledgable opinions on the knife.I'll keep ya posted, mike

called the "little hunter". two(?) models, one with and one without fuller. "A"(with fuller) model had a plastic handle with genuine stag butt.
the "S" model had a genuine stag handle and genuine stag butt.
