I have one in the amber bone and it is one of my favorites. I use it everyday and yes, it will rust if not cared for.

Nice whittler! A word on D2, I see quite a few knives that have D2 that have been sharpened rather badly, usually knives with a higher Rc, or harder steel. Even though I sharpen knives of all types daily, I reccomend and use a Lansky sharpening system, I have the diamond set (not cheap) and an additional sapphire stone. It is very important to keep the exact same angle on both sides to get a sharp blade - hair poppin sharp is what you will get. I've seen several knives that were thought to be sharp, but actually the "sharpness" came from a raised burr or wire. A couple swipes on the leather strop and dull as a butter knife.
Carbon steel blades, those that are in the mid carbon range are a different animal, you can be a bit sloppy on those and get a decent edge - they are a little more forgiving.
I use stones daily also, but the Lansky serves to true up the blade. Nice buy and one of my favorite steels.

Queen makes a nice whittler. I have one just like it. And to answer your question, that isn't the correct box.
