He is one I recently picked up on ebay; why I don't know. I guess because; it is an older Western knife. I didn't really expect to win; with my low bid. I don't know anything about Jade; as far as Jade goes is Imperial any good. Is it worth $37.

Real Jade, Yes I like it - it looks good! I think you got a good deal, a lot of work goes into that! The polished Jade alone will sell for that if it has a good polish. The hardness of Jade is about 6 +/- 0.5 on the MOH scale and blade steel rides about 5.5 or so on the same scale, so the Jade is harder than your bolsters. Kinda the opposite of normal - where the bolster is usually harder than the handle material. Yeah, I've been studying the rocks, always been a rockhound - I have plenty to put on knives - just no time. ::tired::

I'm all set up for that, but filling orders for deer hunters right now - so NO TIME! ::shrug:: ::tear::

I might try Lapis Lazuli first just because I like it.

I have California Jade, Wyoming Jade, BlacK Jade from Wyoming and Brittish Coloumbia (Fraser River) as well as the BC Green. I also have (my wife's idea folks - I think I'll drop this one the floor) LAVENDER - from Turkey. ::barf::

In a couple months! I'll work on a pearl tutorial real soon, I got set behind a few days when my cute little grand daughter gave me a dose of the flu - thought I was dying. ::barf:: ::barf:: ::barf:: Oh well, she's still a sweet little thing! ::ds:: ::ds:: Still worth the visit!

I think that's a real good deal on the knife. Cut, shaped, and polished jade is worth that alone.
