All About Pocket Knives

The Blade Show, noted for the presence of Custom knives and knife makers, also has a significant presence of the historic knives we know and love! Here are some of the knives I found on my first visit!!
You old knife enthusiasts will notice some rare and unusual knives.
Needless to say, I'll have to get back there next year!

I've seen 4-blade Schrade Cut Co cattle knives in catalog reprints, but that last knife (above) is the first one I've seen in person ! Does anyone else here have one? Please post it (them) if you do!

I really like those Acorn shield Remingtons alot, they are all fine specimens.

What a haul! I had to study a while before I could decide which is my favorite, but couldn't make up my mind, I like the sowbelly pattern, but the bone on the Remington is great. I see why you had no choice except to get them all.

Charlie, I'm more impressed with those knives every time I see them, just an incredible group! I really don't know how you do it! Here's a little something I spotted, see if you've noticed it as well: The bone that was used on the arched tang Schrades seems to be unique to that older tang stamp. Here's a shot of an arched sleeveboard with a very similar jigging (slightly pocket worn). Seems it's more of a hand jigged style than the later Schrades, as can be seen by the later flat bolstered jack pictured:

I'm sure it is an older jigging style, and I suspect done by hand. At some point old George invented a jigging machine, and that is likely when they changed it. That "hand" jig laps over into the straight line stamping of course.
Someone suggested to me that Schrade likely bought bone like that from Sheffield??? It would be interesting to find examples of English knives with that jigging, if it is true!! Hmmmmmmmmmm???
