All About Pocket Knives

I would be interested in hearing what some of you knife collectors think of the price guide so far. Its construction is somewhat time consuming, and I would like to know if I should continue the effort. Basically….. I would like to know if you use it or if you will when complete. If you have used it, how do you like it so far?

I think it is a good idea and will be helpful for collectors to keep track of values in real time. The printed book format guides are out of date before they are printed, so your guide will be current at all times.
Just curious how/where do you get your comparables to use for values?

I have been gathering data from knives that are being sold on ebay. I have a database set up where I add the year of the knife, the pattern number, any blade abbreviation, final sale price + shipping, etc.....

I have only been adding knives that are described as mint by the seller and only include those sold by sellers with feedback of 99.5% or so.

It is my opinion that ebay is the best reflection of the average prices paid for knives across the country. I am sure some will agree and some will disagree. I do think that there is value added when you know the seller and /or see the piece in person. Because of this, the prices may be on the low side. I figure collectors can glean from the data what they want.

It is still very incomplete and unorganized, but is coming along.

The biggest drawback is that I have been watching a lot of knives on ebay and I sometimes get bitten by the bug to impulse buy,buy, buy... It's costing me $!!

I'm impressed with the time you have put in to this price guide to date. I would encourage you to continue this as you have an excellent start. I am not sure that I saw any Tiny's put into your guide but I'm a patient man and I understand workload. One thing is for certain, your work so far is as good of a reflection of current prices as there is. This will change with time as this American Heritage grows on into the millenium, and your RECORD of prices now will always be a factor. Its kind of like writing a book about family. A genealogical study if you will. Press On youngster, press on!!!!!

Fantastic! The thing I like about the folks here is the level of trust and honesty. This price guide is a good tool and will draw many folks to your site. I simply feel safe with this group.

The ebay nagivator companion is a neat little web trick too! Im gonna have to do a little scource code tinkering with that one LOL. Im always interested in a something slightly different in web page design. Great tool!

i think its helpful too. i think that if you added other brands though, it'd make it even better
