copper bail???

im looking at a knife that has no stamp on tang. but it has a copper bail which im not use to.actually its the first time i have seen. so was just wondering if anybody maybe knows a company that has used copper bails? thanx guys and gals

hey pete, we have touched on that before. some surmise it was during the second ww. metal shortages at any given time of production...use what they had. is it an old knife? got pics?

Copper bails were used on British Army knives until 1941/42 when they switched to steel. My old Schatt circa WW1 also has a copper bail. Is it a military-type knife? We would have to see some pics to help with the identification.

The marlin spike (rigging) knives made by Camillus for the British and Canadian Navies during WWI have a copper clevis/bail.
