All About Pocket Knives

How many times; have you bought a knife on ebay, that is not as the seller claimed? I picked this knife up as a (Near Mint); but it is no where close. The master blade has a good bit of side to side movement; when opening it, I feel the frame move, it doesn't look like the original rocker pin. The bolsters are badly dinged up; the blades do look OK.

I looked at this guy's feedback; seemed to be a safe buy, no return policy listed though. I have had a few that were; in my opinion a little over rated, but no big deal. But this seller; deliberetly miss represented, this knife. He may be the first person; that I have to, give a bad rating, they don't seem to make any difference.

The only saving grace is; I got this for a re-handle with pre-baned ivory. I hope that MM can; take care of the other issues as well.

if you paid with paypal, you will get your money back. what did he say when you told him the knife was not right?

No reason for someone else to clean up a mis-represented knife. Return it and get your money back. If you return it and tell the seller that you are returning it for misrepresentation - PayPal will back you! Doesn't hurt to call PayPal or eBay either. Who knows until you open it up - the liner could be cracked around the rocker pin. I've seen a couple of those.

Besides, you say that the blades look OK and are you are going to be happy with OK blades and excellent handles...........they should at least be close in condition.

jhonnie, he didn't take paypal; I am deciding whether to leave a bad rating; or email him. I think Muskratman; can fix it up. I do hate to pay; $80 for a $50 knife; though.

I did buy 2 the same day; the other was described as a 1970 (Dead mint); and it is very close to (Pristine Mint ). Win a few- lose a few; I guess.

It could just be the pivot pin in the bolsters, but it can be further down the line.

I would definitely contact the seller before leaving a negative. If you contact them they might make it right, either with a return or with an adjustment in price. I myself have done this several times. If you just leave a negatve, it might make you feel better, but it will probably reduce your chances of getting made whole on the knife.

I am not going to leave a negative; with out contacting the seller first. It would not do any good; he has been selling since 1999, with no negatives. I would just look like a; whinny nitpicky buyer, by placing a negative rating.

This is the way I look at it; he knew exactly what he was doing, it wasn't someone that; didn't know anything about knives, and made an honest mistake. When dealing with someone; that has no integrity, sending the knife back could be, a big mistake. I could end up with no money or knife.

That is a lesson I guess; that I have learned about ebay, some times you are going to get burned, no matter what their feedback is. But most important never pay with a money order or check.

The same thing happened to me awhile ago. The photo of the knife was dark and fuzzy and I took a chance on it. I got the knife and was stunned at the miserable condition it was in. They had used coarse grit sandpaper on it and ruined the blades and handles. I sent an email to the seller and she told me to send it back for a full refund. She left a Positive feedback for me because I did not leave a Negative feedback for her. That was a different seller than the one you have tho. It pays to talk things over if possible.
