All About Pocket Knives

1 Marked "Patent 229706", OD green pain left on handles, simple construction, measures only about 2.5 in. Seems like a military knife, but I can't imagine what it would have been used for. Does anybody have any info on this?

2 Below is a picture of a knife marked Bontgen & Sabin Patent, the same people the above patent was issued to. Missing handles (eventually I hope to get it repaired), but it seems to have been a well made knife. Any info on this one would be appreciated as well.

Update, after researching for a month I was looking through ebay just after I posted this and sure enough I found a very similar knife by the same company. Check ou the price!

Very interesting.
I think your knife is of much more recent manufacture than the BONTGEN & SABIN shown on ebay. The reason I say that is that the hinge on the ebay knife, appears to be similar to ones I have seen on certain of the older antique folding rulers. I used to have a folding ruler with joints similar to the ones on the ebay knife.
The knife you posted the pics of seems to have a newer pivot type joint.
Based on the type of joints/pivots used, I would think yours was much newer. It is interesting to see the progression of changes in the manufacturing & design processes. It is not often one has an opportunity to see those things. This makes it much more interesting to me than either artifact by it’s self.
