Hello, Maybe just old age but the Buck chart can be a little confusing? Its a Buck 110 i think in the late 60's-early 70's? Probably going to let it go so want the correct info before doing so, please help if you will. And is it best to clean cause in IMHO its gonna clean up like a new penny? just didnt want anyone to question it? I know i clean up all my case knives. Thanks, RED

OK, Now i need verification! I come up with 1968-70 either 8th or 9th variation depending on if the tang stamp is left or on the right side. never really thought about a left or a right on a knife so you help me out please, and what do you think about cleaning it first? thanks, RED

Based on the stamp (text, font and pile side), the handle pins, the Shedua wood handles (as opposed to Macassar Ebony), and the blade characteristics, I'd say you are correct and the knife was made between 1968 and 1970.

I wouldn't clean it. Because it's an old and rarer version a collector might want the patina.

I refer to the side with the nail nick as the front, and the other side as the back, or "pile side", which is a term commonly used in the knife community. The stamp on your knife is on the pile side. I've never used "right" or "left", and I don't often see others using those terms so I don't know which would be accurate in this case. EDIT: A little reading indicates to me that the nail nick side is the left, and the back/pile side is the right.

I do know that having the tang stamp on the side opposite the nail nick makes your knife somewhat rare.

Absolutely clean it. Polish it and oil the joint!!

I agree on the dating. Absolutely give it a good polishing, no m essing with the blade..

Yes 1968-70. Also look at the lock back spring and the spring holder. Round or flat spring? Brass spring holder? See my post about 1968-70 Buck 110. Tough variant to find but it sometimes takes a bit of a nut like myself to care and pursue collecting.

Like i said, i never have paid much attention to these, so inside looks to be an 1/8 inch round brass stock about 2 1/2 inches coming from the rear bolster. Is thats what your referring to? RED

Yes. The rear bolster “spacer” is called spring holder. Yours is brass later Buck used steel. The locking bar spring on yours is round stock which is mainly what Buck used/uses. The one I have has flat square stock spring which is a bit uncommon. You have a nice knife. Would be interested in trading for it if you ever want to part. Have a good one.
