Couple of Camillus rescale jobs

Got the 20 Muskrat from TripleF, and the 2 blade from a private purchase, neither had scales. Bought RR red smooth bone scales from Shandon Steel, and put together this past weekend and cleaned/wet sanded handles, bolsters and springs.

Not too shabby. I like the white lines on the little Cammilus.

Thank you. I like to put little borders on some rescale projects, I think it makes it stand out a little and I really liked the milk coming through on the small one as well, where the muskrat had a deeper red hue.

Thank you. I was indecisive on an accent band on the muskrat, but that one has fluted bolsters so I didn’t add. Kinda wished I had…

Thanks Dale. I’ve been adding accent bands on some, but am thinking of doing more of them when I replace scales. Greatly appreciated.

Also a fan of your white spacers! The work looks nice. Are you taking the knives apart, or just fitting the new handles over the existing pins and gluing?

Actually, I just removed the spring pins and marked centerline through the spring pin holes, adhered and
repinned the springs and through the scales after I ground the scale down to near finish height, peened the pin, and finally material removal/coarse sanded.
May not be optimum means and methods, but I tend to remove too much material if I don’t do it that way.

Thanks man, I like the accent bands as well. I’m going to be re scaling a Utica, I’d say 80’s SS removing the wooden “Seattle Seafoods” scales and installing water buffalo horn with a green accent band. So the wife tells me after she picks the scales.
The Utica looks like it’s never seen the inside of a pocket, the scales on it now are not flattering to such a gorgeous knife.

I love the look as well! I have added spacers to a few knives, but I normally have the spacer a darker color than the handles. I am thankful that you showed me the beauty of going with a lighter spacer!

It’s funny you mention spacers. I watched a YouTube video of you adding spacers to an Old Timer 8OT you were fixing. So I starting adding them to some builds. And I can’t take credit for the white spacers, accent bands or what the technical term is for them.
My wife picks out the scales and accents, as my color palate was never issued from the factory…
