All About Pocket Knives

Spending the weekend going through this box I got from an estate sale, about 60 knives. Separating them into USA, China (and similar), Germans. Right off I’ve found imperial, shrade, Camillus, boker, and one bulldog so far. Started cleaning them up to see what I’ve got. less

That's a bunch of knives with at least quite a few treasures.

Put this guy (candystripe) somewhere by himself. He could outgas and take out the whole haul.

Curious, is the orange hawkbill an Ibberson or Klein? Technically, Ibberson made the Kleins--they're based on the "Endurance" line. Seems older Klein-marked ones were orange--my modern one is blue.

So, you went to GWHS? I graduated in '69.

Most people have never heard of Danville. My usual description when telling someone about Danville is "about 45 minutes north of Greensboro on 29". Everyone seems to know Greensboro.

Naaa, pops got us out while I was still in elementary school. Learned reading, writing, and the road to Richmond lol.

Found another nice surprise today! Looks like a nice Boker from 1920-30. At least from what I can tell.

When you combine the plain block "BOKER" text with the standalone bare tree logo on the reverse and factor in the lack of any country-of-origin markings, this knife can confidently be dated to the 1920s through the 1930s, (per AI)

Restoration Notes: Features plain block "BOKER" text and bare "Tree Brand" logo. Master blade has a snapped tip, intentionally left unground to preserve historical accuracy and original geometry. Genuine deep jigged pick bone handles. Cleaned manually with 0000 steel wool and CLP, pivots flushed, lubricated with 10-weight Nano-Oil, and entirely sealed with Renaissance Wax.

I like carrying old bone handle knives also, so if it was mine I would probably regrind the tip and EDC that gem! I also like the way the old carbon steel cuts. YMMV.
