Rich was an encyclopedia of Schrade, I think was at one time employed as the company historian. I believe he was one of the founders and advocates of the Wawarsing Knife Museum. Those interested in American switchblades (Schrade, Case, etc) should read through Richard’s posts discussing them, including pictures of his extensive collection (which at one time was on display at the museum - may still be). Many rare knives.

There is believed to be no obituary for Rich and his passing was kept very quiet because it is alleged that the family was frightened about someone breaking into his property and looting all his knives. His collection was so massive it would have taken many trucks to haul it all away.

I have Rich’s book Knives of the Hudson Valley. Excellent resource if you can find a copy!

It is because of Richard Langston (lt632ret), more specifically his book, "Knives of the Hudson Valley - 160 Years of American Cutlery History",
that I first became aware of the ALLEN CUTLERY COMPANY and its pocket knives. Along with many, many, many other knife/cutlery companies.
Richard’s posts were/are VERY interesting AND VERY informative. I enjoyed reading them then and I still enjoy reading them now.

I never really had much interaction with him but I knew he was stuffed full of Schrade knowledge.
