How is everyone liking the Case XX Axe Handle.

Nice collection. They’re really getting creative with their bone dying and finishing - some I like, and some look terrible. Some on the CCC Forum have amassed large collections of Axe Handles.

Being the introduction year of the first new “traditional” pattern from Case in decades, I bought one. Got it from the Case web site so paid more for it than I could have found it elsewhere, but they were on back order everywhere else. When I got it a few days later, it was perfect. Fit and finish is great, good walk and talk, perfectly centered blade.

Boys, y'all keep me confused! This is the 2nd or 3rd time I've seen the words "Axe Handles" and automatically think of honest to goodness axe handles until I open the thread!

The price of replacement axe handles today are more than a new Case knife in the 70’s.

Ask and ye shall receive! This was waiting for me when I got home. Next to the -54 Wharncliffe Trapper I was carrying today.

And I should mention, to AAPK!

Still waiting on one that I ordered in January.

Reminds me of my days working for a manufacturing company. Occasionally we’d get a call from an irate customer saying they had placed an order months ago with one of our distributors, but were still waiting for delivery. The distributor had told them they too were waiting for us to ship.

We kept records of every shipment we made including part numbers, quantities, dates of shipment, etc. Invariably we found we had made multiple shipments of the part to that same distributor. They didn’t tell the customer they had received shipments of the part, but for whatever reason had not filled that customer’s order. Although we had no way of knowing, the assumption was they had older back orders that they filled first. Sometimes it was for parts in high demand, but sometimes not. A distributor is unlikely to tell a customer “we are receiving shipments of the item, but we’re choosing to fill other orders instead of yours.”

In the case of high demand parts, in end we often learned the customer had placed orders multiple places only to cancel their orders with all but the one who shipped to them first. They only wanted one, but had ordered it multiple times. Sometimes judging the true demand is not easy.
