All About Pocket Knives

I sent my Victorinox Tinker to Victorinox and requested they replace the scales since they were broken. They replaced it with a new knife instead.

I had carried the old knife for about 45 years so it had a lot of sentimental value. I'll get over it but I was looking forward to getting the old knife back and retiring it.

I carried it nearly every day. It's gone. I'll miss it. I'll get over it.

I'll just buy a new knife!

Kudos to Victorinox for their excellent warranty.

sorry for your loss, there’s a lesson there for all of us.

That's crummy. You'd think a knife company would give one the option to return the knife without repair.

Buck has this on their warranty page:

"If your knife has sentimental value, please note it when sending the knife to us so that we can determine whether to repair or replace it."

Hopefully Buck will honor that and return a knife they determined can't be repaired. If I had to return a knife in that condition, I'd call or email Buck first to verify that indeed I'd get my knife back repaired or not repaired.

I think Case Company does the same thing. Lesson to be learned I guess
is if you send a knife in for repair make sure they mail it back to you
if they won't fix it and it has sentimental value to you.

Same story here. I had an all steel executive that I carried for more years than I remember and when I sent it off for repair they sent me a new red version which felt like I’d taken my knife and thrown it away.

I have read if you send in a Benchmade for repair and it's a fake, they will destroy it. I guess they send you a letter?

In order to have Victorious look at this knife I had to pay them $5 and pay $8.75 to the post office to ship it. That's $13.75 to fix/replace a knife that originally cost me less than $9.

I find some warped humor in that.
