Need some help dating this old Hen and Rooster knife. It has two different tang stamps. I think it’s from 1975 to 1980 but the one tang stamp looks like it’s from after 1980. Anyone have an idea of how to date this one?
The box has 302 MOP on it but the blade has 203MP on it. I doubt that it’s the original box so that is no help.

My understanding is that if the tang mark includes "Bertram" and "Cutlery" then it is post-1980 after AG Russell had to close the origiginal H&R factory. The early post-1980 knives I believe were made by Klaas, so still high quality.

Have you tried asking her father for permission?

::facepalm::

Sorry. Couldn't help myself.

Thanks for the information. That helps.
I still wonder why it has two different tang stamps? It doesn’t show signs of having been taken apart and or having a blade replaced.

I'm sorry, but the topic of this thread reminds me of a Seinfeld episode. 🤭
