Good pocket knife dedicated for whittling?

Looking for a new pocket knife. Would a German made Boker Congress in D2 steel be a good choice for a whittler? How about some other good choices?

I assume you are a novice whittler? A little research and reading here in the Whittling and Wood Carving forum will answer your questions. This one thread alone will tell you what experienced whittlers value in a knife, therefore what to look for.

It comes down to personal preferences, and no one knife fits all. I like a traditional 3 blade whittler pattern, carbon steel and I modify blade edge geometry to get a better edge. I just go 2 Rough Rider Tater Skins for this purpose on sale this week(they show to be stainless but I’m going to give them a shot for that price). I have a ton of different one Case, RR, GEC pocket carver, Oar Carver, Walden Whittlers but depending on what you whittle depends on the knife.

And if you use it up, break a blade or lose it, just pick up another one.

I just use whatever is in my pocket. Of course most of whittling is simply making pointy sticks.
