All About Pocket Knives

A couple of days ago, this pocket knife arrived in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. This pocket knife now becomes my first example to be posted under this new topic or thread. I definitely did NOT buy the group or lot of pocket knives to obtain this particular pocket knife. But, it did get added to my general, pocket knife accumulation. It is a Kabar 1054, two blades, one tang stamp, 2 3/4” closed, one spring, pocket knife. The main blade front tang stamp says, “Kabar (over) 1054 (over) U.S.A.” The main blade does NOT have a half stop. The main blade does NOT have an opening snap. The main blade does NOT have a closing snap. The secondary blade does NOT have a half stop. The secondary blade does NOT have an opening snap. The secondary blade does NOT have a closing snap. Overall, this pocket knife is in POOR condition. This pocket knife did need some cleaning. I took some pictures and here it is.

Here is one I picke up last week at an outdoor antique show for $15. Mint in box #1071. Same pattern but with jigged Delrin handles and three blades.

Steve - how is your #1071 the same pattern as the OP’s #1054 with two blades - just trying to learn - both serpentine but the #1054 has no pen blade $15 seems like a steal

FYI - Bibeau’s Hardware (also known as Albert J. Bibeau’s Hardware Store) operated from 1938 to the late 1960s at 59 Parker Street in Gardner, Massachusetts. It was located in the downtown area within the historic Maki Block (formerly Rome's Block).

Tom; what I mean is it is the exact same handle die or handle shape. 1054 has a single backspring with clip and pen blades only; 1071 has two backsprings with the added coping blade.

INTERESTING about that hardware store - how did you find that info? I got this one at the Brimfield MA antique show.

my buddy google led me to this information - must have been in their last year of existence given the Delrin covers.
