Boker interpretation

I love daggers and that one is a beauty.

I've always enjoyed the Boker version...very nice!

Very nice! I looked at several Sgian-Dubh while in Scotland a few years ago, but those I saw appeared to be “tourist” versions. Didn’t have time to do a proper search. I returned home empty-handed. Being of Scottish descent (the Clan Chattan federation) I probably need a good one! That Böker version looks like a well made version.

Something interesting I learned is, despite the draconian knife laws in the UK if you are wearing traditional Scottish attire (kilt, stockings, garter etc) with a few exceptions you can legally carry a Sgain-Dubh dagger in the top of your stocking. I don’t have any of that Scottish regalia either though.

Thanks guys. I don’t have much use for the pattern except as a photographic model.

Hard to tell from a picture but a traditional Sgian-dubh blade is 3 to 3-1/2 inches, certainly no more than 4 inches. May be photographic angle-induced distortion, but that Böker version appears to have a blade longer than that.

Just measured it and the blade is 4 5/16” and the handle is 4 1/2” overall length is a shade over 8.75”

Thanks for the link Ken. The Boker must be an anathema to a Gentleman of the North. It does however keep alive a tradition if only by showing what it was historically.
