There is a 99 1/2 model on AAPK that states a rare "A" blade??? what is an "A" blade?

Hard to describe but on an "A" blade the blade comes to more of a high "peak" above the nail pull rather than the blade being straight across. In the Tested era, all 99 pattern clip blades were the "A" blade, and this continued into the early XX years. Later in the XX years, the clip blade tooling was changed to the "straight" version, and this continued until the 3299 1/2 was discontinued in 1978.

Yes, the A blade is a larger, fuller clip. Deeper belly and profile. If you can post a picture the blade we should be able to tell you if it is a true A blade.

I'd say that knife has a very worn A blade. Short and well sharpened.

The 2 clip blade knives at the lower part of the of the first pic here are A blades. The second picture you can see the A blade size and shape compared to the 2 stags at left.

Thank you for the pictures. The difference is very visible when the knives are side-by-side.

Thanks guys...of all my 65 yrs dealing with Case knives I was never aware of an "A" blade...just goes to show you that old dogs can learn if they have a "MIND" to.
