All About Pocket Knives

Well, the 2026 OKCA Show is now history. While it wasn't the most crowded OKCA show I have seen, but for me, it was one of the best. Lack of rain on Sunday contributed to the lower turnout on the third day. I consider a show to be great when, in spite of my best efforts, I still come home with more money than when I arrived at the show!
My goal at the show was to thin the herd, so I did have a lot of things marked down.
I had a box full of "parts and project knives" that was really a big attraction. People who didn't really collect knives would look through them and people who I knew collected expensive knives would also look through them and fine treasures! I started with 7 or 8 pounds of parts knives and sold about half of them by the end of the show. About five minutes before the show closed, a guy came by and made me an offer on the entire box, which I accepted. Mission accomplished, herd thinned! (10 more shows like this and the herd will be down to a manageable size, if I don't buy anything else!)

The most fun at the show was getting to meet old friends, renewing old friendships and making new friends. The really cool part is all these people have, and love knives!

Great pics, Dale. It was great seeing you again, and everyone else. It was really nice to see Ray, Paladin, again. Had not seen him and his wife since before covid.
I have more pictures of the displays and will post them once I get them downloaded from my camera.

I took pictures of all the displays, but, am still in the process of getting them off my camera, sorting them out and picking the ones to post. I didn't take many people or room pictures, but, here is one of Charlie Campagna with the room in the background and also another one of Dave. Also one of Dave and I in our AAPK t-shirts. I should have all the display pics up in a day or so.

Dale already posted great pics of Dave's Schatt & Morgan display. Dave's knives a great, but, part of what made Dave's display a winner was his documentation of the history of the company and ephemera. Dave had a case of knives from the short lived New York Cutlery Company which was founded in 1895 or 1896 in Gowanda, New York. This company moved to Titusville in 1902 and was incorporated as the Schatt & Morgan Cutlery Company. Dave's display included a case of knives from the Gowanda period of Schatt & Morgan. There were also 2 cases of knives from the Titusville period of the company.
The display also included a lot of great ephemera.
The display case pictured below has some very interesting stuff. Schatt & Morgan only put out two catalogs. Dave has original copies of both. His No. 1 catalog is believed to be the personal copy of Charles B. Morgan. This case also has the original record book that has the minutes of all the meetings of the directors, board of directors and stockholders of the company from December 1, 1902 through to August 1, 1932. There is also a record book of employees dated 1912. There were only 5 or 6 of the large wooden display knives, pictured below, made. Dave now owns one of them. The display also includes an old pic of company employees with one of the display knives. Dave also displayed a couple of old counter felts. Here is an original picture of the company baseball team dated 1906 There were other pictures and documents scattered throughout the display.

I gotta say, that image of the S&M company baseball team is great. That company logo looked fantastic on the uniforms.

The only display I got pictures of was Dave's Schatt and Morgan display. I did have a chance to look briefly at the cigar knives but I totally missed the Ethnographic Art and Artistry in Knives! Too much to see!
I was so busy on Friday, and Saturday that I stayed pretty close to my table most of the time, by Sunday I was exhausted!
It was definitely a good show this year. I'll have to post pictures ot some of the new knives I found as I get a chance. I will try to post them in the appropriate forums.
