Anybody know where the hawkbill originated? Interested in the history of these baby's.

Hawk's were often marketed as pruning knives, used to trim off small branches and fruit from plants and trees. I've also seen them marked as Lineman's knives for phone and electrical workers. More recently similar blade shapes are used in cutting and installing carpet and the like. It has some limitations, but overall it is a useful blade shape Yours are quite nice lookin

Nice ones, Hawk Bills are very user friendly knives I also like the strong back springs on them. Watch out they wil take off the tip of your fingers like a bear trap. I found out the hard way, I was bleeding so bad I think I helped the guys knife sells

The hawkbill pattern has been around a very long time, just how long I'm not sure. They have been a utility pattern for many years. Commonly used for cutting carpet/linoleum, pruning branches, skinning electrical wire. They are one of my favorite patterns.

i believe the laminated handles are called pakkawood. they were originally pruning knives and later adapted to other chores.

Yes, mine used to look like yours but I had mm put some mammoth ivory on it with a little filework too but it was just like yours at first. It's a good'ern. Congrats.
