All About Pocket Knives

Hello all and thanks for looking. I finished this one and she's off to her new home.

Spear point slip joint in O1 with spalted maple covers (stabilized).
Nickel silver bolsters, pins and coin edged liners.

The pull on this is what I would call a medium, maybe a touch lighter, smooth and easy to pinch open, (see attached video), half stop, spring lays flat in all 3 positions and the tip is well centered.
Blade hand sanded to 600 grit finish.

No shield on this one. Sometimes I think a shield takes away from the natural beauty of the covers. What are your thoughts? Do you think a shield would have added to this knife?

Gorgeous! I have one is spalted Maple around here some place . . . could be Cooper, don't think it's a GEC . . .

That knife looks great! The file work on the liners really sets things off nicely.

Thank you. This is the first time I've used spalted maple. Ive had this chunk for a while and finally found a knife to use it on. I really liked the way it came out.

Thanks. Im a big fan of that...as you can see on ALL my knives lol. I think it adds something a little special that not a lot of factory knives have.

A shield was never a factor in my choosing a knife.
I think most of my knives have shields but that was incidental.
Blade and frame design would certainly be a more critical decision.

Thank you. I asked the same question when I posted on Reddit. I was surprised at the amount of people that really do not like shields. I found that interesting. For me it all depends on the knife. Some look perfect with it and others, the handle material itself is more than enough.
