Fremont, Ohio was once known as the "cutlery capital of the world," with a number of companies crafting products in the area. E.B. Christy, owner of the Christy Knife Co., tells Fremont News Messenger, "At one time, in the '20s, there was more cutlery shipped out of Fremont than any other city in the world." Clauss Cutlery, which then merged to form Henkel-Clauss, had about 1,000 employees in Fremont. Hollinger was another company of the approximately 25 cutlery brands present in the city. This industrial heritage lives on in Fremont Cutlery Co., a locally owned business that produces quality knives.

I cannot raise my hand, but I have these old Christy's.
I have some newer ones also.
These are still made on the same machines from the1930s.

It seems like I read something about this interesting information some time ago but most of it has escaped me so I'll only raise half my hand.

My hands are down because I didn't know this interesting fact.
I've had a Christy Slip Joint knife on a key ring attached to my briefcase for many years, and it's a cool blade, but I will admit I have not used it much.

I cannot raise my hand, as I am virtually clueless about much of vintage pocketknife history. But then, that's why I enjoy AAPK so much, by hanging around here, my knowledge increases. Hell, I learn something new almost every day.
