Been away from the hobby for a bit, just noticed Buck 110 new for over $100? If true, why the steep increase? I know inflation has been bad but….

I agree that prices have skyrocketed but where are you shopping?

A brand new Buck 110 in the standard configuration is $89.99 on the Buck website and they often charge more than most dealers.

Bucks website I thought had it for 105, maybe I misread something. Everywhere else, seems 89.99 the norm. I guess those 64.99 days are long gone……

Yep, we won’t be seeing those prices again. I bought most of the Buck knives that I wanted about 4 years ago. At that time, I felt like I was paying too much but with today’s prices being what they are, I feel like I actually got a bunch of good deals.

Actual prices are exceeding book prices, since around 2020. If I want a decent user, there are some to be found on the 2nd hand market (like AAPK member stores), for less than a NIB one.

Rampant inflation has impacted prices of nearly everything since 2020.

Considering a CASE, SODBUSTER is selling at $104.99, in my humble opinion the BUCK 110 is more knife for the price, assuming it's still USA made.
BTW, I had two 110's on my table Saturday. Both were older but very nice, with sheaths. One sold without haggle for $70. At least a dozen lookers had to pick them up and relate their personal 110 stories. I enjoyed their tales. J.O'.

Covid around 2021 spiked prices, free money got everyone spending, and I've not really seen prices come back down since. Apparently this is the new normal.

Case knives have skyrocketed as well in the last few years. Secondary market has gotten ridiculous - amazing to me that people stand for this and continue to support the inflated prices. I wouldn't have even gotten into the hobby if I started when prices (new and used) were so much more relatively speaking than only a few years prior. I can't explain it ... other than collectors of all sorts and fancies typically have deep pockets and may have only one hobby and aren't afraid to feed it. I have waaaaaay too many hobbies to expand my collection now - so I'm very glad I found knife collecting when I did, when deals could still be had. I very much enjoy what I am fortunate to have acquired at the right time, which is more than I'll ever use. I do continue my occasional bottomfeeding in the higher end import market though where deals can still be had. Sorry, this has morphed into a rant, but It remains very bothersome to me the direction things have gone in the USA made knife world in the last 5 years or so ...
