All About Pocket Knives

just purchased these unusual stamp. It's Hero Cutlery of Philadelphia. Goins shows a German company but no ties to Philadelphia. Could be an import but I found a mention of a manufacturer in Phili with that name. Hummm. Any help?

Does not look German made to me, early American or English most likely.

At first I thought it was an abbreviation for Herder. Odd one for sure.
