I’m not sure who in our membership speaks French but someone will respond. I believe you are asking “I'm trying to identify this knife that belonged to my great-grandfather. It has a horn handle and is marked MARSEILLE. Thank you for any information or identification suggestions”. My high school French studies are iover 50 years ago but welcome to AAPK.

Welcome to AAPK. I hope someone here can give you information about your knife. I'm sorry, but I don't know.

Am I close Ken? ::shrug::

Right on! My German is better than my French but I try. Like you, it’s been a looong time since I studied it but I spent more time in Germany afterward. My biggest problem is translation from speech - my brain is too slow to keep up! :lol:

It looks like a Corsican design. I have seen many of these marked "Vendetta Corsica".

You guys are funny. Nice translations as well.

The OP looks ancient. Hard to date these. They only made them for 150 years. They were never made as automatic versions until the 1960s. And most were actually contract the builders in Maniago. Only 1 model known was made in France in a few sizes. The Italian models were typical high quality from the 1960s while the French one again used black plastics and the quality doesn’t compare to better Italian models.
