Missing my Dad (d. 2012) big time today, so I've been hitting Bread's 1972 hit, Everything I Own. Lead singer David Gates wrote it in memory of his father, who died in 1963 before David achieved music success.

Powerful lyrics that too many of us can relate to.

That’s been a favorite of mine since it first aired. I never knew it was about his father. I identified with the lyrics over lost love. This makes the lyrics even more special.

I never knew it was about his dad either but I loved this song.
I remember having 8 tracks on this and playing it in
my first car - 1972 Olds Supreme.

Bread certainly was a very good group and times
I listened to it was fantastic.

I heard this on the radio last Father's day and the story behind it. Made me think of my dad and how much he did for me and how much I miss him every day.
