Case 9254 r j mcdonald, john olivers legacy.

Picked up this knife and can't find anything about it.
I have found other ones like it but not this one. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't see any pins in the handle covers, so that means it probably wasn't done by Case. Some companies like Frost (and several others) buy Case knives without handle covers, glue custom covers on them, put etches on the blades, custom boxes, etc and resell them. Knives with covers installed by Case are pinned on. Others use glue.
So not sure who did it but it probably didn't come that way frim Case.

My assessment doesn’t mean it’s not a good knife or that there is anything wrong with it. Some folks collect those aftermarket embellished knives (although most probably don’t know Case didn’t do the whole thing). Without the box it’s hard to say who did the work. (Sometimes you have to read the fine print on the box or label). There’s obviously a market for them else they wouldn’t be doing them. Enjoy it. If you want a genuine “all Case” knife look for handle covers that have pins.

Good to see you have the box. Corelon is a registered trademark belonging to Frost Cutlery. You will not see it on a knife whose covers were installed at the Case factory. (Case uses a similar acrylic material that Case calls “Kirinite”. Again, the readily visible and distinguishing difference is that Case uses pins).
You could try contacting Frost Cutlery to inquire about the story on the knife. They have a web site with contact info.
