Got an email today from Case announcing the “Limited Vault Release” of the Cheetah Cub https://caseknives.com/pages/cheetah-cu ... lt-release?

and a new pattern, the new Case Axe Handle pattern https://caseknives.com/pages/case-axe-h ... 0b4.LjcBU8. Both are being introduced with multiple different handle covers.

The Cheetah Cub pattern is 3-1/2 inches and the Axe Handle is 4 inches. Nice to see Case introducing some larger folders for a change.

That Axe Handle pattern looks interesting to me.

Should be interesting to see the price on the Axe Handle model considering that it’s a collaboration with Bill Ruple. I do like it though.

Sure is. The trouble is selecting which covers you want, such a selection.

Great vault release! I do not own a Cheetah Cub. I'm tempted. Ichtmus shield on the Cub with Seafoam bone? I have trouble remembering the Cub's pattern number. It is not in our refference section.

I also like the Axe Handle. Hopefully they'll offer it as a multi-bladd in the future. I counted a half dozen different shields on the Axe Handles.

Nit-picking a little, gators are neither bright green nor red.

Seafoam Green is G-10, not bone

The Cheetah Cub pattern number is 1-1/2. So a Cheetah Cub with bone covers is a pattern 611-1/2. Which can be confusing because a Cheetah pattern (11-1/2) with bone covers is a 6111-1/2.

There is also a Case Classics 011-1/2 pattern. Those weren’t made by Case, but Parker put zeroes into most Case Classics pattern numbers because the tooling used was different than the original authentic Case factory tooling. So pattern 61011-1/2 is found on a Case Classic with bone covers.

Add to the confusion - at one time Case made a Cheetah Cub with red G-10 covers that was pattern number 1011-1/2 (broken down that’s 10 for the G-10 covers, 1 for single blade, 1-1/2 for the pattern number).

Probably better off to not remember, but I’ve been sick a long time!

Writing purely from my falable memory, the 1/2 only indicates a clip point master blade making the Cheetah's handle pattern 11. IIRC, my 1990s jack knife is stamped ROG6211-1/2. ROG for Roger's bone. I do not own one but I'll guess the red 1989 Centenial single clip point blade with no lock is stamped 6111-1/2. Both were made to recreate early 20th century knives. If Case ever realizes there is a market for Warncliffe Wednesday bone Cheetahs their pattern number will be 6111W maybe with an L. Is the Cheetah Cub's handle number only 1?

By the way, even though modern Case knives are not your thing, if you do not own an early 6211-1/2 the 1990s jack is a cool substitute.
