All About Pocket Knives

browning model 9307 knife
I can't find any info on this knife can anyone help? I believe I bought it in the early 1980's.

Good eye Skip. I was going to reply that I was 99.9% certain that it is not a 1980s Browning knife. I'm 99.9% certain Browning did not market one hand opening pocket clip knives in the 1980s. Browning marketed higher end knives with polished blades. Its blades are not polished. Its handle sides are not hafted down flush with the bolsters. During the 1980s Browning did not market knives that were assembled with screws, etc.

Thanks guys, yes it does say "China". Sounds like I have bogus Browning knife.

I questioned Browning Customer Service just yesterday and got this reply this morning.

Unfortunately that is not one of our knives, I would not be able to give you information on the knife. Sorry for the inconvenience. It is a counterfeit

I also need info about a case mini trapper, i think a 1985and has iv207 on the blade??

Its date is easy. During the 1980s there was a line of dots between Case XX and USA. The decade starts with 10 dots then one dot is removed each year. 1985 had five dots. You might be having difficulty reading the pattern number. The last two digits you gave mean the Mini-Trapper handle frame. The two means two blades. A number for handle material should preceed the two. You can look this up yourself by clicking on research at the top of most pages. Scroll down to W. R. Case & Sons then click on age identification or handle materials.

The "IV" preceding "207" means the handle is Ivory.....most likely Mastodon (Mammoth) Ivory like this one.....

My knife is like new, no tarnish but do like yours and want to sale mine dew to health.
