Off-Gassing?

Sadly, a Case XX 6254 SS is the victim of something nefarious. Off-gassing? It was sitting on a shelf with a yellow Boker Copperhead pressed against it. The back of the Case was against a wall and is unaffected.
Conclusion?
The Boker is celluloid…??
Thoughts?

Looks like off gassing on the blades for sure. What is that handle material? Is its true color the dark blue or the light blue? Never seen that happen to any handle material.

I’ve seen old yellow Case pocketknives discolor and shrink kind of like that. The shield and bolsters don’t appear to have turned brown and I would have definitely expected that. While it absolutely could be, I’m not sure that it really is celluloid off-gassing.
Did the Boker scales discolor or craze?

Need to see pictures of the Boker. The Case has bone handles - bone does not offgas, so the color change must have been caused by the other knife.

Well, the Boker is fine with no visible changes to the scales nor blades. The Case scales are bone. A liberal soaking in mineral oil has brought back much of the original deep blue colour….

A few minutes of 800,1000 & 2000 grit took care of the blade. It’s not as good as it was but who is?
Thanks for your replies.

Maybe the stainless steel is fighting of the effect of the off gassing ....
