Pretty nice looking! I like tractors, first thing I ever drove. 70 acres and a single family -everyone starts at an early age. A green and yellow John Deere I remember My grandfather starting it by turning the flywheel, I wasn't big and strong enough to do that at the time. I was bucking hay by the time I was 12 though - I don't think today's 12 year olds would do that, maybe they're to smart. The oldest one had metal tires, an old Fordson - It's still there as far as I know. Around 1920 more or less. Too many relatives fightin over who owns it I guess and my dad could care less, too many people died on those things by flipping over.

Though my dad and uncle got the 1929 Chevy to restore, 5 window I think, first year Chevy had a 6 cylinder, if I remember correctly. However, it just sits in a garage, heck they could even save the original paint. It was running when they parked it in the garage - just mouse damage which can be a lot.

Have fun with that tractor, looks good, I use a neighbors Massey Ferguson with a shift-O-matic, 9 forward speeds and 3 reverse all slow. I don't know the year, just has Massey Ferguson on the hood.

Yours look a heck of a lot better than the one I borrow.

Another good investment, that seems to increase in value every year. Easy machines to work on. Farm & Family used to have any part you needed, including sheetmetal. I'm sure it's still available somewhere.

Keep good brakes on 'er, they're not great at best, and go easy on the clutch on that hilly looking ground she's pictured on. It's real easy to pop a wheelie, but not something you'd want to do. 200 lbs. hung on that radiator guard wouldn'd be a bad idea.

Make sure the ends on the governor control rods are in good condition too. I had the rod pop off while mowing down hill, and felt like I was doing '90' before I could kill the engine. With no suspension, it's hard to hang on if they get away from you.

Nice example! We have lots of those or a very similar model over here in the UK, thousands were sent over after WW2 under the Marshall plan, they were a big help getting food production up, we had rationing til the early 50's I think.

There are still lots about, we have steam traction rallies here during the summer and there are usually some on display. It's late over here now but I'm sure I have some photo's, I'll look them out and post them, hopefully tomorrow.

i clutched one of those last year...i was visiting northern calif....some long hairs heard me talking in a coffee shop..." hey can you help us do a clutch?" yep...so i go out there...got tired of waiting for the people who asked me out to "help" fix the tractor to show up..so in about five hours, i had the beastie split, cleaned and new clutch assembly installed...was bolting up the pitman arm when the hippies finally showed.
good thing they left the parts right there on the bench.... i sat and watched them mount the hood...that was fun...

I have a '53 Golden Jubilee that was my grandfathers.He bought used in'55 for around $1500 I think that is what he told me.(he has gone on to see the Lord) but it is all original except the clutch that my father and I replaced for him when I was about 15 yrs old.Had to split that mother in half to get to it.But it runs as good today as it did in '53 when it was new.Sorry I don't have a picture.

Very nice toy to play with rigwelder, one that I can appreciate. These new tractors we use at the farm have gotten so computerized that the John Deere mechanic has become a parts changer at the mercy of the laptop he now carries to work on tractors. I think the last one we bought had 3 different brain boxes, not one you can really work on anymore with the exception of oil changes and such.

Ha,ha,ha...Every tractor we have has A/C with am/fm radio, most of my tractor drivers have satelite radio as well to go along with their "floating" adustable tractor seats. They get miserable when I make them get out and do something else for a change everynow and then, that air conditioning will ruin a person...

I gotta go now its time for work as I sit in my air conditioned house and ready myself to hop in my 4 door 2007 Toyota Tundra V8, yep farming is not the only thing that has changed..

FORD FERGUSON was the first real motorised vehicle I drove on the road besides a go-carts and them bumper-cars. I think I was 10 or 11 years old then. Sure was a fun thing to drive even if it had some play in the steering. When I use the right or left brake she sure turned much faster too. I still remember how kool that was. When I was about 15 years old I helped (by driving Fergy) plant trees for a tree nursery. By 16 I was bailing hay and used one called Minneapolis-Moline . Much more power and with the front wheels in a V. I could back up 2 hay trailers in straight line put not loaded...

Hey, I like old tractors too. I have messed with them for years. This is a 1938 Allis Chalmers WC that I bought up in Illinois a few years back. Here is what it looked like when I bought it.

I never under stood why the front end was about 1 1/2 foot in front of the tractor. It always looked like it came from a different tractor to me.

Parts are hard to find now and it looks like you did this just in time.
Did you need many parts on this one or just a lot of paint ?

Thanks guys Ken, parts are fairly easy to find for most tractors. You just have to know where to find them. The Farmall didn't need very many parts. It ran well when I bought it. It just needed cosmetic stuff mostly. The factory IH wide front end is fairly uncommon and that is the reason I bought the tractor.

Ken, I forgot to mention that a lot of the parts I bought for the Farmall came from O.E.M. Tractor Parts right there in your town of Bloomington, IL.

This is a 1954 Super H Farmall that I have had for several years.

A 1938 F-14 Farmall that my dad bought back in the mid 1970's. I own it now. Sorry for the messed up pic.

James all of those tractors are great looking. I don't see too many tractors, but those are something to admire. Do you use those at all?
