Is this a Case XX knife?

Interesting knife here.

Bakelite scales single blade and single side bolsters. One side stamped "XX". The other side stamped "175".

The blade side of the tang has been sharpened down but I dont think it has been sharpened down to the point where it would have removed "Case". The "XX" marks look have originally been centered on the tang. I dont see any remnants of a circle around the XX which would date it to 1914-1920 and as a Case XX.

Any input would be appreciated.

Not a Case. I'm guessing it is a Schrade factory second with xx's grround over the original tang stamp. Try looking up a Schrade model 175, I think it is the same pattern.

I agree with Knifeaholic. The "XX" has been cut into the tang, not stamped. Whether it is a factory second or a poor attempt at counterfeiting, I don't know. It looks to be much newer than the pattern numbers, in my opinion.
It is still a cool old knife, just not a Case.

Thanks to knifaholic for solving this. Schrade 175 it is. I was able to find another with the exact pin placements, scale material, overall shape, "175" font" etc. Its a shame someone would feel the need to add "XX". Thanks for the input.
