Does anyone out there collect Veterinary and Rooster Nutter knives? I have been picking them up over several decades now and have been fascinated with all the different tang stampings. If any members have any unusual or rare stamps, could you post a photo of them? I would like to see what is out there.

There are TONS of them scattered throughout AAPK.
Just enter "nutter" in the AAPK site search box,
and then go from there. There may even be more,
depending on your search word(s).

Rooster nutter?
Those little hooks are for cutting off the dental floss which is used to secure the steel gaffs to the natural spur stub. The gaffs fit over the stub and have learher attached which wrap around the leg, floss secures the gaff to the leg.The saw blade is of course for cuttting the natural spur to the require length. The blade is for cutting the floss to length and dubbing the comb and wattles. I never saw these particular knives used by any cockers. usually a pen knife and dubbing shears were commonly used. The fights I attended in Bangkok fought mostly with natural spurs and sometimes knifes. The knives are wicked! Good for use on shufflers.

I would agree that the hooks are for cutting the floss off on a cocker's knife as no one would be neutering a fighting bird but on the stainless steel knives I would have to say the blade is to make an incision and the hook is for pulling out the testicles for removal. Knife is a Naponoch prototype.

When ya nut a critter you pull, and or scrape the cords, not cut.. Properly, a spreader is used on a cock and fingers. . but, not every one is proper!!
It does make a cool knife no matter what .Nutter sounds more better than string cutter? sells more knives too.
