All About Pocket Knives

I have put a knife up for sale on eBay and somebody sent me a message "your description of this knife is all wrong" and left it at that. Here is the knife I put out there. I thought it was a whittler with a long wharncliffe, a reverse tanto and a pen blade. If my description is wrong, what is the correct description. Thanks in advance.

It’s a coping not reverse tanto, other than that I agree with what you wrote.

The only thing I might add is the pattern is called a "sleeveboard" whittler; the die shape resembles the sleeveboard foldout found on older ironing boards.

You were given some really good advice in your earlier AAPK post here: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... 4#p1209594 such as it being pattern #892309 (Meaning pattern 89, primary blade is a spear point, 3 blades, made in 2009) but your eBay listing says pattern #661210 Your eBay listing also says #29 of 25 - turquoise jigged cattle bone handles - the usual 3 blades o wharncliff, pen and reverse tanto most of which are incorrect. GEC calls your knife a Melon Tester Whittler and in Turquoise jigged bone they made 50 serialized pieces (which is what it says on your main blade).

IMHO, if your going to ask $565 for any knife, you have to get the description 100% and your description for this particular knife needs to be rewritten. Sorry to be so blunt but what does the printing on the tube cap say?

I have relisted this knife with the proper description. Thanks for putting me straight. Just never would have guessed this to be a melon tester.

And now that I have taken my deserved beating, this is still a beautiful knife.

GEC calls this a Melon Tester Whittler which to a discerning buyer is different than a traditional Melon Tester……other than that this https://ebay.us/m/NwDMRD looks great! I wish you much success with your sale

GEC made it, they for sure can call it whatever they want. I see that redraiderRick posted one with what I could call a melon tester blade, the op knife to me is a sleeve board whittler with a Wharncliffe main blade. But that's just me.ymmv.
