Was trying to find some information on this knife. I inherited this from my wife’s Grandfather number of years ago. Didn’t know if there was a dating system for these knives. Also what the actual kind of knife this is. From what I can find online it’s some sort of skinning knife. But I have yet to see a photo of this exact one.

A very curious looking knife. The knife was made before 1951 as LF&C discontinued cutlery manufacture in 1950. With the lack of the words "Made in USA" incorporated in the etch I think the knife would date some years earlier than the 1950 date. If all original I would guess the knife has some type of specialized use for the trades. I find the location of the etch on the blade unusually close to the hilt, normally the etches are found further out on blades. The use of pins rather than cutler's rivets in the handle is a bit unusual as well but that may be the norm for this knife.

Member Miller Bro's is a great resource for this type of puzzle. Hopefully he or someone else with a good answer for this knife will look in.

It's a tobacco knife listed on page 194 of my 1914 LF&C catalog.....here's a scan and description showing all 4 handle pins. ::tu:: Price per dozen was $4.95 ::uc::
1914 Catalog No. 200 Tobacco Knife.jpg
Model 200 didn't appear in my 1922 catalog but in 1926, the only tobacco knife is model 201 as depicted on page 98 here in this scan:
1926 Catalog No, 201 Tobacco Knife.jpg
On the same page is a fish knife that is the new Model 200? ::shrug::

Thank you Tom, that helps out a lot. Didn't realize it was that old of a knife.
