This month dlr110 (David), a serial donor to the monthly knife giveaway, has decided to part ways with his Case Trapper new in the clam-shell packaging and a very special wood-burned picture of a locomotive pulling a line of train cars.

Because the knife is still in its original packaging, David was unable to give a lot of confirmed details without the knife in-hand however it is believed to be model #3254SS with yellow synthetic covers, Tru-Sharp stainless-steel clip and spey blades and is 4.125” closed. Additionally, the knife has brass pins and liners, and the bolsters and shield are believed to be nickel nickel silver. It’s hard to see fully but David’s best determination is that there is one star above and two stars below on the tang making it dated 2017. The information on the back of the packaging is about Case, their warranty, consumer awareness and a safety notice. The package does have a small crack on the lower right corner.

With prior monthly giveaways, David has provided a sign copy of one of his books, but he is almost out of his knife books, so he is including one of his wood-burned art pieces as a bonus "(or as firewood, depending on what you think about my work)". This piece is 10” across, 9.5” top to bottom and 5/8” thick Basswood. Signed, dated and sealed with polyurethane.

If I do enter and happened to win I would re-donate the knife. Definitely not the wood burning.

Remember the knives were dad’s I am the train collector.

So I did enter for the first time. What I said stands if I win the knife that David so kindly donated can move to November. I would definitely collect on the Steam Engine would burning.

Awesome donation, David.

That is a very nice Case knife. But what I'm REALLY impressed with is the wood burning scene you are also including. I can only imagine the time it took to complete that project. The detail is GREAT! Someone is going to be very happy to receive this...and the knife too.

I'm still an amateur at this so it took me about 30 minutes to combine 2 images (train and background) on my computer; then 2.5 hours to draw it on the wood using a printout and carbon paper. The burning in took me approximately 4 hours total then a coat of polyurethane that I let dry for about 24 hours. After that I take 0000 steel wool and lightly rub it until smooth.

Meigscl's pick of 147 was 49 away from the winning lottery number of 196 but was the closest without going over making him the winner of the Case Trapper #3254 SS and Locomotive Wood-burned Picture that dlr110 (Dave Roberts) kindly donated. Meigscl was also the winner in 12/2006, 8/2008 and 5/2023. A PM has been sent to claim the prize
